چکیده

This paper presents a new approach to automatically construct multiple surfaces from set of 2D sections. A convex curve and centripetal normal force are employed to split each section to a set of shells. Each shell contains a single image region and defines an initial contour evolved by the geometric heat differential equation in the direction of a centripetal force toward the outer boundary of the image region. Then a reparameterization is performed to increase the flow and make each contour converging into concavities. Thus, the 2D sections are segmented to a set of contours, divided to subsets of similar contours. Each subset is used to construct the surface of a single 3D object linking corresponding vertices. To validate the theory a set of experiments is performed using synthetic and medical 2D sections. A discussion and comparison of the method with set of existing is given at the end of the paper.

A Genetic Algorithm based Optimization Method in 3D Solid Reconstruction from 2D Multi-View Engineering Drawings

There are mainly two categories for a 3D reconstruction from 2D drawings: B-Rep and CSG that both these methods have serious weaknesses despite being useful. B-Rep method which has been older and have wider function range is problematic because of high volume of calculations and vagueness in answers and CSG method has problem in terms of very limited range of volumes and drawings that it can an...

3D Reconstruction Using Cubic Bezier Spline Curves and Active Contours (Case Study)

Introduction 3D reconstruction of an object from its 2D cross-sections (slices) has many applications in different fields of sciences such as medical physics and biomedical engineering. In order to perform 3D reconstruction, at first, desired boundaries at each slice are detected and then using a correspondence between points of successive slices surface of desired object is reconstructed. Image Based Reconstruction and Interaction of 2D Vector Fields

This paper addresses the problem of symmetrical 2D flow visualization and presents solutions to compute a vector field from a flow image. Based on these solutions new, interactions mechanisms are developed which make visual corrections of 2D vector fields possible. These mechanisms permit an image-based interaction with some features of the vector field: vectors, streamlines, and critical points.

3D volume reconstruction of a mouse brain from histological sections using warp filtering.

Sectioning tissues for optical microscopy often introduces upon the resulting sections distortions that make 3D reconstruction difficult. Here we present an automatic method for producing a smooth 3D volume from distorted 2D sections in the absence of any undistorted references. The method is based on pairwise elastic image warps between successive tissue sections, which can be computed by 2D i...

Surface Reconstruction from Multiple Views using Rational B-Splines and Knot Insertion

A method for reconstruction of 3D rational B-spline surfaces from multiple views is proposed. Given corresponding features in multiple views, though not necessarily visible in all views, the surface is reconstructed. First 2D B-spline patches are fitted to each view. The 3D B-splines and projection matricies can then be extracted from the 2D B-splines using factorization methods. The surface fi...
